Frosty morning

Heavy frosts over the past few days have frozen the ground solid again, I hope it hasn’t damaged the emerging bulbs.

Have a great weekend!

  1. It has been frosty again here too Liz. The birdbath has had to have the ice broken for several days now!Nice chilly photos. I suspect the bulbs are probably more robust than you think, I hope so 🙂

  2. Hi Laura,I hope it's warmed up for you a little since the weekend! It hasn't been too bad here for the past week or so, but I hear it's supposed to go downhill towards the end of the week.

  3. Hi Kyna,I think the bulbs look ok so far, and hopefully we won't get more hard frosts in the coming weeks. I'm looking forward to all my Irises coming out and having a sea of purple around the decking again 🙂

  4. Hi SG,Quite a number of bulbs have come up already, and the Tulips are the ones I'm actually worried about as they're the most likely to sustain some damage.

  5. Hi Lona,Indeed, I have to agree that the only good thing about the snow is it at least insulates everything from the cold. After our snow had melted in December we then had repeated night lows of -16 and around there. So I am really worried that I have lost a lot of perennials due to no longer being protected.

  6. Hi Jan,No frosts for the past couple of days thankfully, and yesterday was quite nice and I managed to spend a couple of hours out in the garden flooring the Buddleja in the front and making a mini fence from the branches to line along the underneath of the hedge – providing a nice home for insects and such.

  7. Hi Liz,Sorry to hear about your Phormium, my Cordyline has died… To be fair I've planned to get rid of it for a while now and it only just survived last winter but this time it wasn't so lucky.I hope Spring is appearing in your garden now! It must be, you're not far from us 🙂

  8. Hi Barbara,Thanks very much, I look forward to seeing more growth. I've noticed over the past couple of days that the grass in my neighbour's garden is looking nice and fresh green!

  9. Hi Liz, despite the fact your garden is frozen you always manage to show images that conjour up a little magic.I am sure your bulbs will be fine. It is amazing just what does survive in a garden.Temperatures have risen here during the last week, but frosts will be back at the weekend. It has been a very long winter.

  10. Hi Cheryl,It's quite a bit colder today than it has been for the past week, I just hope we don't have more frosts… Although I am sure they will come. I've discovered another few patches of Snowdrops around the garden – some in the deep shady front (nice surprise) and some in the 'left' border which at this time of year sees very little sunlight too. They've literally appeared in the past couple of days and are close to flowering!Hope you have a nice week, or weekend 🙂

  11. Hi Janet,Oddly enough no I don't get mud on the camera/lens… I do get lots of dust though and need the cameras and lenses professionally cleaned. However, I do spend most of the year with muddy knees and a wet bum! 😀
