In a Vase on Monday
This week we see a shift in blooms from the last of the bulbs and onto perennial plants. I’ve combined two this week in an attempt to use up some of the photos I’ve been building up.
At the moment I’ve got at least three vases on the go at any one time, so it’s difficult to post only one set each week. Perhaps I’ll have to regularly post more.
Currently I have one vase with Spanish/hybrid bluebells and herb Robert. I also have a vase of Lilacs and then a trio of Spanish bluebells and the last of the Tulips.
But they will come later.
So let’s enjoy the last of the muscari and the first of the Spanish bluebells.

Each year I pick the Spanish bluebells from the garden in an attempt to stop them hybridising with my native English bluebells. I can’t get rid of them though because they’re growing amongst the path to the house. They will grow anywhere. I should’ve probably brought someone in to dig up the path and relay it, but, well it’s kind of cute seeing the bluebells pop up, plus Geraniums and even now a Foxglove has managed to see in the path too. I’m torn between leaving them and pulling them out.

Thank you very much – there’s plenty of purple in my garden! At this time of year it’s a sea of purple/violet.
Oh I wish my earlier bulbs would have lasted longer but our recent heat made them fade within days…so it was a joy to see your muscari as I love it!

These Muscari actually bloomed quite late so extended their bloom period nicely. Also, these photos are almost 4 weeks old… Oops.
You might have to choose between having a foxglove and being able to walk along your path.

I think I’ll be OK as there’s very little nourishment where the Foxglove is so I don’t think it’ll grow too large. I was tempted to pull it up today, but it seems such a shame when it’s so determined to grow in a tiny crack…
I love to see muscari in a vase – I think I have kept mine under control too well though and only had a few and they were much earlier than yours. I too like to see things seeding into a path and it is hard to draw a line between what is acceptable and what is not!
They look so pretty … a lovely shade of ‘blue’
